More on Symphony... Where’s save as .wks ?
Friday 19th October, 2007While we're critiquing Symphony, get this... One other thing we're noticing with Symphony is the lack of support for the ol' Lotus 123 files. Kind of ironic considering that I can still import and export a ".wks" file. You can save spreadsheets in Excel format, using Symphony, but I would have thought that it's not hard to also provide support to save a file as ".wks". Sure you'll lose some formatting, but I will usually want to do it so I can simplify the import and export operations I come across. Especially in cases when configuring up client systems using an initial import of data from the excel spreadsheet the client has been using for the last 5 years.
Instead I have to use Excel to save data into wks format and then import. No big deal, but how does that look from a brand point of view ?
Using a MS product to convert data into a Lotus compatible format.
I know Symphony is based on the OpenOffice source and doesn't support Lotus 123, but you would have thought that it's not hard to integrate it into Symphony as Lotus already has the capability via the import/export feature ? Sorry guys I am just asking the qustions...
