Power of Blogging: Amplify your incompetence.
Friday 26th October, 2007The amazing power of blogging. You can be raised to a demi-god status or become the pariah of a planet that is plugged in. I was reading Ed's announcement of his impending arrival in Sydney soon, and noted he is keen to get out to the Rocks market. I had thought when I read it originally that he was arriving on Melbourne cup day, (a Tuesday which is also the day of the Sydney User group meeitng), thus thinking that the markets would not be open.
So I just started typing away like a lunatic, advising Mr. Ed Brill esq. that the markets would not be open during the week. Now, let me just say that with the volume of content I read on a daily basis, you start to get into the habit of "skimming" for information. This allows you to filter information in the same way the settlers panned for gold, looking for those juicy nuggets of info. Unfortunately, like Norton Anti-virus software, sometimes I makes assumptions about the actual content I am reading without doing a thorough sanity check and cause all sorts of trouble.
So, there I am shooting my mouth off warning Ed, that the markets would not be open, luckily Andrew Brew, (who actually reads stuff properly), kindly mentioned in a follow up comment, that Ed will be arriving on Sunday. Just as Ed had written further in his original blog entry, a little juicy nugget of critical info needed in my cognitive processes. So lessons learned there. I need to get a better siv/filter thingy. Blogging is a great way to allow the whole world to see you slip on the metaphoric banana peel, rather than in a conversation between a couple of people....Move along please... nothing else to see here.....
